The net is buzzing with the Nokia’s lineup that is going to be unveiled at MWC 2012. Among them we must note the Nokia Lumia 910, Nokia Lumia 610, Nokia PureView 808 and three Asha featured handsets — Asha 202, Asha 203, and Asha 302. But it seems this is not the all, as The Verge claims there is also a Nokia 305 smartphone, which has passed certification in Indonesia alongside with the Nokia Lumia 610.

As for the Nokia Lumia 910, it is going to be the international variant of the Nokia Lumia 900 that will be launched in the US via AT&T and supports the carrier’s LTE network. The world model will lack this feature and probably it will be compensated with a 12MP camera.

The Lumia 610 will run Windows Phone Tango, which can run even on handsets with 256MB of RAM. Moreover, this version of Microsoft’s platform supports screen resolutions lower than today’s Windows Phone standard of 800×480 pixels, and camera lens must be larger than 3 megapixels. Being a low-end handset, the Nokia Lumia 610 will be the way cheaper than the Nokia Lumia 710 that is sold for £200 ($315). Thus people can get the device for about £100.

The Nokia PureView 808 is known as the successor of the Nokia N8, thus it will be based on Nokia Belle or Carla.

I think at the moment no one cares about the Asha line, but if you wait for news concerning Nokia 305, I have to disappoint you as no one is aware what a handset it is and what level of users it is intended for.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the smartphone that seems to be available in any country but the US. However, this fact doesn’t prevent the manufacturer to keep it on the top of charts. Its main reason is conditioned not only by the attractive specs list coming with the device, but also by the wide color range Nokia is offering to its consumers. The white variant of the Lumia 800 is already official and available in a few countries. Now that’s the UK’s turn as an online retailer dubbed Expansys UK is currently getting pre-orders for the unlocked model of the device.

Besides this retailer there is a couple of other ones ready to accept your pre-order and promise an early-March launch date. But all these offers are for the SIM-free models, while if you want a cheaper offer with a contract, then you must knock at Phones4U’s doors—the exclusivity belongs only to this retailer.

This doesn’t mean you’ll pay inexpensively, vice versa: the white version of the Lumia 800 has become official only recently and be sure there are many consumers dreaming of it like you. So prepare a round sum.

At the end I want to say if you are going to buy this white-colored smartphones because you are tired of black devices, and the cyan and magenta Lumia 800 units are not for you, then may be you’ll wait a little more because most likely Nokia will launch the green and red variants of this awesome handsets too.

Nokia’s revealing the secrets behind ClearBlack: its display technology that, even under the brightest sunlight, renders black as black as blackest night during a dark spell. Wedged above the E7, Lumia 800 and 900 displays are three thin layers, a linear polarizer, a quarter-wave retardation film and a reflecting surface. When light enters the first layer, it vertically aligns the “wave vibration” of the light so when it hits the retardation layer, it begins to rotate towards the right. Hitting the reflecting surface causes it to reverse, becoming left-circularly polarized before passing through the retardation later again, where it polarizes horizontally.

This enables the polarizing filter up top to screen out horizontally polarized light, meaning it doesn’t reflect back in your face. Why (we hear you ask) then doesn’t it happen with the light from the display itself? Because it only passes through the second half of the process, it doesn’t become horizontally aligned, leading to that beautifully dark display reaching your peepers. It’s a clever and elegant solution that we can’t help but be impressed at, even if we’ve used up the world’s supply of the word ‘polarize’ in order to explain to you.

Having turned to Microsoft and its Windows Phone 7 platform to halt the smartphone funk it had found itself in, Finnish phone giant Nokia is said to have shifted around one million Nokia Lumia 800 handsets in the final quarter of 2011.

The figures, which come from research firm Morgan Stanley, have suggested Nokia has doubled pre-release estimations selling one million Lumia devices as opposed to the 500,000 units predicted by analysts prior the handset’s official release.

With the Lumia 800 marking Nokia’s first collaboration with Microsoft and the WP7 OS, analysts have now predicted the former leader of the mobile market will shift an impressive 37 million Windows Phone handsets throughout 2012 with the dramatic increase to come at the expense of the rapidly declining Symbian OS.

Nokia Lumia 800 Specs

Touting a stunning 3.7-inch ClearBlack AMOLED screen and the same polycarbonate shell found on the Nokia N9 the Lumia 800 is an all-round leader of the currently available Windows Phone contingent. A 1.4GHz processor is paired with 16GB of internal storage whilst an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with Carl Zeiss lens and 720p HD video recording capabilities at 30fps handle the handset’s array of entertainment specs.

Is the Lumia 800 and the new partnership with Microsoft Nokia’s saviour or a final high on a rapid decline to obscurity? Let us know what you think via the comments box below.

Nokia and AT&T introduce the new Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T’s 4G LTE network

First Nokia smartphone designed specifically for the US features LTE, large display and exclusive applications

Las Vegas, US – Today at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Nokia and AT&T announced the Nokia Lumia 900, the first of Nokia’s Windows® Phone-based range to feature high-speed LTE* connectivity. With Nokia’s largest display, the Nokia Lumia 900 delivers a rich content experience from a phone that still fits easily in your hand.

Coming exclusively to AT&T in the coming months in cyan and matte black, the Nokia Lumia 900 has a 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Display for rich, bright images both indoors and out, faster connection speeds based on cutting-edge 4G LTE technology, and a long-lasting 1830 mAH battery for enjoying content all day.

The primary camera includes Nokia’s exclusive Carl Zeiss optics, with large aperture (F2.2) and wide angle focal length (28mm) for high-quality, uncropped images even in low-light conditions. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 900 includes a front-facing camera boasting a large aperture and a wide angle lens that ensures sharp, bright images for high-quality video calling, right out of the box

Nokia’s third Lumia smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 900 builds on Lumia’s head-turning design on the outside and a rich social and Internet experience on the inside. People Hub is the quickest way to connect with friends with Live Tiles for real-time updates and a fast Web browsing experience with Internet Explorer Mobile.

“The introduction of the Nokia Lumia 900 with AT&T is another significant milestone in the ongoing rollout of Nokia’s global smartphone strategy,” said Chris Weber, president of Nokia Americas. “The Nokia Lumia 900 is designed specifically with the US in mind and the announcement of this collaboration with AT&T, in addition to other recent announcements, signifies a new dawn for Nokia in the US.”

The Nokia Lumia 900 benefits from a range of leading content experiences:

- The AT&T U-verse Mobile** app lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage their DVR recordings, and watch hit TV shows while on the go. The U-verse Mobile library includes more than 100 TV series and more than 700 TV shows from a variety of genres.

- Nokia Drive, available to download from Windows Phone Marketplace, provides free voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation with a dedicated in-car user interface that turns the Nokia Lumia 900 into a GPS navigation device.

- The exclusive ESPN sports hub is pre-loaded on Nokia Lumia smartphones, and provides a one-stop sports application for news, videos and scores.

- The CNN App for Windows Phones provides the latest news and video from CNN’s reporting around the globe and direct access to iReport, CNN’s participatory news community. Launching globally for free in the next month, the CNN App will be exclusive to Nokia users for 90 days.

- The Univision App will be exclusive to Nokia Lumia users in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for 18 months, delivering unique and exclusive Spanish-language content experiences, including Univision entertainment, sports and soccer coverage, plus news, cooking and local content for different U.S. markets – all in one App.

- A partnership with EA to bring over 20 of the world’s most popular games to the Windows Phone marketplace, coming first to Nokia Lumia devices.

“Nokia and AT&T worked hand in hand to bring the Nokia Lumia 900 to market. Our powerful 4G network really amplifies the benefits of the Nokia Lumia 900. Sharing high quality images and videos with its integrated social networking functions is faster than ever; content from U-verse Mobile is more enjoyable on the crisp 4.3-inch screen, and with its huge battery people can do more without worrying about recharging,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices for AT&T. “Together, we are working to supercharge the ecosystem around the Nokia Lumia 900 and the Windows Phone platform.”

Despite all kinds of analyst speculation of poor interest, the various retailer phone rankings all over Europe continue to indicate the Nokia Lumia 800 is selling very well.

The latest is 3 UK’s online store, where, when the phones are ranked by “Bestseller rating” the Nokia Lumia 800 is ahead of the much cheaper HTC Wildfire S and also cheaper iPhone 4.

While Windows Phones have never released sales numbers, it may help settle things for Nokia to finally release some solid figures.

AT&T may announce a Nokia Windows Phone during the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, WinRumors said on Thursday. Here is where it gets more interesting, though: The Verge said Nokia is supposedly in discussions with AT&T to make a big splash in the U.S. by launching a Lumia-branded Windows Phone with 4G LTE connectivity. If Nokia really wants to turn heads, we expect that it will launch either a tweaked version of its higher-end Lumia 800 device, instead of the watered-down Lumia 710, or a new flagship phone with entirely new hardware.

It is possible that Verizon Wireless could get into bed with Nokia for an LTE device as well, but Verizon hasn’t appeared to be a big Windows Phone partner so far. The carrier has launched a single device, the HTC Trophy, while AT&T has launched more than a half-dozen. Windows Phone Tango, the release between Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) and the more significant Apollo update, is also expected to launch in early 2012 with support for LTE, WinRumors said.

While discussing his intentions to expand Nokia’s presence in the United States, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop recently made comments that suggest his company could have a Windows 8 tablet in the pipeline. “There’s a new tablet opportunity coming,” Elop told Bloomberg in a recent interview. “We see the opportunity. Unquestionably, that will change the dynamics [of the market].” Elop described Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system as a “supercharged” version of its Windows Phone operating system, implying a hint of interest in using the OS on a tablet.

The two operating systems share a user interface called “Metro UI.” Nokia recently announced its first two Windows Phone devices, the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800, during its Nokia World conference. Elop confirmed the existence of a Nokia tablet in April, although early reports suggested it might exclude Microsoft from its tablet plans. Microsoft has already demoed a number of devices running Windows 8 and the first are expected to hit the market toward the end of 2012.

It’s been a full year since the Nokia N8 Symbian smartphone was released and in that time it has proved a huge hit with smartphone users the world over. With its stylish anodised aluminium design, high-definition support and, of course, that stunning camera, we’ve taken a look back at all that has made the Nokia N8 such a landmark device.

Nokia N8 review

When it first arrived late last year, the Nokia N8’s most publicised feature was its ultra-sharp 12MP camera, but there was so much more to this ground-breaking smartphone than a camera alone. With its gorgeous design, high-definition video support, built-in satellite navigation and WebTV, there was plenty to love about the N8. So, a year on, we’ve taken a look at the top ten features that defined this fantastic phone.

Anodised chassis:
Crafted from anodised aluminium, the Nokia N8’s stylish, hardwearing design comfortably set it apart from its rivals, presenting itself as the high-end handset to beat. While its gorgeous looks helped catch people’s eyes, the tactile feel made it incredibly comfortable in the hand, quickly making the N8 the smartphone that everyone wanted in their pocket.

Ultra-sharp camera:
With its 12MP sensor and Carl Zeiss lens, the Nokia N8’s camera broke new records. The Xenon flash made it as easy to take high-quality pictures in low-light conditions as in bright sunlight and the N8 wasted no time in staking its claim as the perfect smartphone for capturing high-quality photos and filming high-definition video on the move.

Full auto-focus:
Thanks to the use of continuous auto-focus, the Nokia N8 made it easier than ever to record the best quality videos, no matter how near or far the subject being filmed. Using Nokia’s Active Hyper-Focal Distance technology, the 28mm lens was able to provide the largest depth of field and keep objects in full focus, ensuring your videos stayed perfectly sharp at all times.

Macro-mode:
As if the Nokia N8’s camera, lens and focus weren’t impressive enough, the addition of a macro-mode for shooting the most finely detailed photos possible sealed the deal. Letting you get up-close-and-personal and take stunning photos of the smallest subjects, the N8 was confirmed as the best camera-phone you can buy, making it the choice of photographer’s worldwide.

High-definition recording:
And it wasn’t just still photographs that the Nokia N8 excelled at. Letting you record high-definition 720p video just as easily, the N8 let you pack your digital camera and camcorder away for good and hit the road with only your smartphone in tow, making it the ultimate smartphone for capturing your life’s most memorable moments.

DivX support:
As well as enjoying your own home movies on the Nokia N8, its full support for DivX encoded videos meant you could also enjoy a wide range of the most popular video formats. Adding to its already excellent multimedia credentials, this made the N8 a full media centre in your pocket.

On-demand WebTV:
And if comprehensive video support and high-definition recording weren’t enough, the Nokia N8 even let you watch TV on-demand wherever you went, thanks to full WebTV support. Whether you wanted to watch the BBC for the latest news updates, or enjoy a bit of nature on the National Geographic, the N8 had it all, with plenty more channels available from the Nokia Store.

HDMI-output
But what good would all that glorious video and TV have been if you couldn’t watch it on your HDTV when you got back home? Well, the Nokia N8 had that covered too. As one of only a small selection of smartphones to come fitted with a digital HDMI port, it had never been so easy to hook your phone up to your TV and relive the day’s antics, adding yet another string to the Nokia N8’s multimedia bow.

USB On-The-Go
While most smartphones need to be connected to a home PC to share files from USB flash drives and hard drives, the Nokia N8 cut out the middleman, letting you plug external storage devices straight into the phone via a handy USB adapter. Making it easy to back-up your photos, videos and music, as well as easily share files with friends, USB On-The-Go proved a quick hit on the N8.

Sat-nav
And finally, while every other smartphone manufacturer was charging you to enjoy full satellite navigation on your handset, the Nokia N8 was kind enough to let you have it for free. Giving you free walk and drive navigation for life, as well as turn-by-turn voice guidance, the N8 always kept you on the right track and let you save bags of money in the process.

With so much to still love about the Nokia N8 a full year after its release, the sheer quality it delivered only makes us even more excited to see what’s next to come from Nokia. If the N8 is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat when the first Nokia Windows Phones arrive in the coming months and we’ll be bringing you all the latest news as it arrives.

Until then, what have you loved most about the Nokia N8? Was it the stylish design, market-leading camera or HD support that blew you away, or was it something else entirely? Why not let us know in the Comments section below?

The Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update is now officially available and comes packed with hundreds of new features to help your smartphone look and work better than ever before. We were at the launch in London to take a close look at Microsoft’s latest and greatest mobile OS and see just what Windows Phone 7.5 Mango will bring to the first range of Nokia Windows phones – as Nokia says, ‘the fightback starts now’.

When Stephen Elop announced Nokia would switch to Windows Phone back in February at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, the Windows Phone Mango update seemed a very far way away. Thankfully, its now rolling out and clearing the way for the first Nokia Windows Phone.

10 things Windows Phone 7.5 Mango will bring to Nokia Windows phones

Building on the foundation of the original Windows Phone 7 OS, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango packs a range of new additions to improve the capability, usability and functionality of your Windows smartphone. Adding new features for enjoying your music, photos and videos; staying connected with friends and family; finding new places to explore as you travel; and helping you to stay mobile for longer, it already looks like a great update and is sure to be a hit.

Taking us through the new features, Microsoft’s team made it clear that a key aim of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is to improve how you stay in contact with your friends and family. Bringing new features such as built-in support for Twitter, LinkedIn, along with the existing Facebook tools, it is now easier than ever to update all of your social networks in one move and stay up to date with what all your friends are up to.

Tools such as the new Groups feature go a step further, helping you to bring your contacts together and categorise them based on how you most often interact with them. You can have groups for colleagues, friends, family and anything in between, providing a simple way to check on a whole group of people and see all their updates in a single page on your Windows phone.

It’s not all just about staying in touch, though. Windows Phone 7.5 Mango also brings a range of features to help you keep entertained wherever you go. Bing Music lets you identify any song you hear and instantly buy it from Zune Marketplace; Local Scout tracks your location via GPS and then suggests fun and interesting things you can do in your local area; and Video Sharing lets you record video and instantly upload it to your Facebook page or send via email in one easy step.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Using Windows Phone 7.5 Mango for ourselves has only confirmed what a great operating system it is and has got us even more excited to see it in action on the next generation of Nokia handsets. The OS is being rolled out to Windows smartphones as we speak and while there’s no official release date for Nokia Windows phones as yet, our anticipation is increasing by the day and we can’t wait to see the latest Nokia phones in action.

What do you think, are you looking forward to seeing Windows Phone 7.5 Mango in action on a Nokia smartphone? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments section below.
